I love a good soft sweater that is lightweight yet keeps me warm. As spring is approaching, there are some great deals on sweaters. Madewell again for the win for my favorite sweater. I’ve also included my favorite black pants.
I have several staples in my closest, but a few get worn more often than others. I also tend to stick to my favorite color…..bLAck!!!!! I just feel it is such a great winter color for blondes and can be worn with everything. At preschool on Monday we made fake snow and my co-teacher text me to let me know that I may want to steer clear of my “normal black” attire and pull out something with more white…I pulled threw and found something much lighter in color for the day.
Okay so my first staple is my J.Crew black tissue tee (I too have it in other colors.)I love the weight of this turtleneck. I feel that it goes great with jeans and sneakers or can be dressed up with pants or a skirt.
My second staple that I should have actually put as my first staple is my 9″ black button up Madewell jeans. Ladies, these jeans are life changing. Like seriously, the most comfortable, slimming, give you a figure/butt kind of jean. Why has it taken so long for the high rise to come back????? The 9″ is such a great waist to start out with if you are still not sure of the high waisted jeans idea. Just give them a chance, you will fall in love. These jeans run true to size….they have stretch, but don’t stretch. Also if you live near a Madewell, you can take an old pair of jeans in and receive $20.00 off your jean purchase.
My Madewell hoops are in my ears daily. They are the perfect size and width and go great with everything. Great price and they hold well.
My new added staple are these great shoes from Target. My girlfriends and I all have them and we love them. They are a cheaper version of the Free People shoes that are $200.00. I’ve worn them everyday this week and my feet feel great in them. I wear my D’Oarsy flats constantly, and these are very similar, just with an extra side. (Hattie hates these shoes and she tells me every time I wear them.)
My necklace is an oldy from Madewell, so I posted a similar one here that I think is very versatile.
A few months ago I started hearing about this AMAZING hair care system that everyone was using. If you know me than you know that I’m always trying to get better, longer, thicker hair. Great hair is something I just wasn’t blessed with. So after I finished up all of my hair products, I decided to jump on board with the Monat line….like I said, I’ll try anything for better hair plus this line has only natural ingredients which is pretty cool.
This is what I experienced after using Monat for 1 month….which is all typical.
- After shampooing my hair and rinsing it, it feels like straw every time, but no worries, the conditioner immediately smoothes it out.
- My hair looks so fresh and has more bounce after I style it. The styling products are really really good.
- This has been the hardest for me…..my hair has been more greasy which means I’ve had to wash it more often. (part of month 1’s detox) This has defiantly decreased the longer I’ve stayed on the system…..thank god, because I hate washing my hair.
- I’ve had a bit of hair loss, but that’s part of the detox.
- I’ve not experienced any dry scalp or itching.
- My hair is super shiny.
- Length…….Of course I didn’t take before pics:/oops!
Truthfully, my main goal with Monat was to have my broken sides catch up with the rest of hair. After one month, the results were pretty amazing. The best part was that my hair stylist was amazed too. She couldn’t believe how much my hair had grown and how well my sides were looking. I’m excited to see month 2’s results.
Here is the list of products of what I’m using.
*Monat ALWAYS has AMAZING sales with loads of free products!!!
- Intense Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. This has really strengthened my hair, especially my sides.
- Blow out cream for heat protection…I LOVE this.
- Root boost.
- Split end repair.
- Refinish Hairspray. (If I’m being honest, I’m not a HUGE fan of the hairspray, but I’m learning to like it.)
- The Champ dry shampoo….it’s not talcy, but works great and conditons your hair.
- Replenish Masque…weekly
- REJUVENIQUE oil….I love this and use it all over my body mixed with lotion. I even use it on my face with my moisturizer. I use it before every hair wash…I do a 15-30 min leave in before I get in the shower.
So there you go, there is my opinion and I’ll be excited to share more as I go.

I always love when I find earrings that can be worn ALL of the time. This summer I scored a great pair of tortoise shell earrings and for such a great price. Tortoise shell earrings are great added to every outfit because they have just enough print to spruce up your outfit. They are beyond versatile and look great for all occasions. These circle earrings are the perfect size and not too heavy. I ended up getting all the colors because I loved them so much.
Every year we take the girls to Elitch Gardens here in Denver and it’s always a hit. We lucked out with the best overcast weather with only 5 minutes of rain. Comfort is the key when you plan to walk and play for 8 hours. I am so excited to share what I wore…..words can’t explain how much I love my shorts and how comfortable and versatile they are. Literally, I’ve worn them all summer (I bought both colors). And thanks to J. Crew for making such a fun tie back tank. Another thing I’ve lived in this later part of the summer.
The tie back tanks are so fun this summer for both everyday wear and working out. J. Crew did a great job with this tank. It’s true to size, light weight and shows just the right amount of back. All of the colors are very cute.
Happy Saturday everyone. I’m excited to announce that I am back!!!! Summer has been a bit busy with the kids and I had to just stop and breath about blogging. (I may or may not let this thing stress me out;)))) But, my husband has encouraged to get back into it and I’m glad because I really do love sharing my favorite things.
Last week, while the girls and I were at the mall, I decided to hit up Urban Outfitters to look for a dress and ended up with 3! All 3 are great everyday dresses but, are very versatile and can be worn for many different occasions. Both dresses come is several different prints that are all really cute. I’ve worn both and got a lot of compliments on both!!!
Super soft, awesome pockets, & very minimal wrinkling
Comfy, light weight(not see through), minimal wrinkling.
NOTE: I washed both dresses on delicate cycle, cold, and hung to dry.
Yay, we made it through the week! With all of our busy schedules and toting kids around, I wanted to share my favorite busy mom go to outfit for spring……tees and jeans. Earlier I posted about my favorite crew neck tees, but now I want to share my favorite v-neck tees. They are the Madewell whisper cotton v-neck tee and they come in a variety of colors. They are so great and are easily taken from day to night. The pink shades are so pretty and springish.
But what I am really excited to share with you are my new favorite white jeans from American Eagle. Yes I said American Eagle and they are so amazing. The fit is spot on, they are not high waisted nor low waisted, just a good in between fit. The material has a lot of stretch, but doesn’t stretch out. I wear my white pants all year long and they go through a lot and get a lot on them so I don’t love spending too much on them. Take my word on this though, you won’t be disappointed. I am on day 3 of wearing them, and they are awesome. I ended up buying them in the short length, just for a slight crop look. I paired this outfit with these gold ankle espadrilles from Old Navy for a steal and my new favorite J. Crew earrings.
Style Tip: I always do a baby front tuck with my tees just to give it a little something. And it’s a good trick with tees to keep the bottom from getting tiny holes that rub against your jeans all day.
- Madewell whisper tee
- AE white jeans
- J. Crew earrings
- Old Navy Espadrilles
- Ray Ban glasses
- Buxom Lipgloss-pink lady
- Revlon Colorburst-cherish
As much as I love fashion, my other passion is fitness. If you know me, you know what a gym junkie I am. As far back as I remember, I’ve always loved to workout. Clear back in Jr. High and High School, my girlfriends and I would go to the Athletic Club, workout and do aerobic classes…(step class was on of our favorite;)) I continued to workout, but it was after I had my babies that I got really serious and tried to be more knowledgable about fitness and nutrition. Naturally, I have a small frame and pretty good genetics, but I wanted to be healthy, lean and more cut. I started eating clean, picked up running (which was a slow process) and started lifting A LOT of weights. Every day, I would google, pin and observe different workouts I would see at the gym. I then would go off and do my thing. Within months, I started seeing results with muscle definition….my hard work was paying off and I loved what I was seeing.
Hard work is defined as a great deal of effort and endurance….nothing happens if you don’t put in the time, and it really does take time and dedication. I do get a little frustrated with people who think I am naturally blessed…like I said earlier, I do have good genetics, but I also put in the time and work my butt off even when I am tired. I’m very conscience about what I do physically and what I eat, although I don’t deprive myself either. Make working out a priority, I do about 1 hour to 1 hour & 20 min a day either at home or the gym. It has just become a part of my life. With all of that said, I am excited to be posting some of my favorite/simple workouts that have help defined my muscles throughout the years. (I now have to figure this video thing out;))
TIPS and ADVICE
- Set realistic goals for yourself and your life.
- There is no quick fix, everything takes time and effort.
- Figure out what works for your body both nutritionally and physically.
- Don’t be afraid or intimidated at the gym….own the place. (Everyone is just there to get a workout in.)
- Don’t deprive yourself of things you love, just limit them.
- Always push yourself to do a little bit more each day.
- Workout with a friend or go to classes.
- Weights will not bulk you, we need them more than ever the older we get.
- Don’t compare yourself to anyone else…focus on you.
- Stop the excuses and realize that you are important….you’ve got this!!!!
Living in Colorado can be very hard on your skin. A few weeks ago, I noticed how dry and dull my face was looking….to be honest, I was feeling a bit frustrated and my poor friends had to hear all about it;) While reading my In Style magazine, I came across the CLINIQUE fresh pressed vitamin c booster. I decided to head down to the mall and maybe try it out….before I decided where I was going to buy it, I picked the store with the best free gift…it was MACY’s that particular weekend and is still going on.
I ended up buying the 4 week pack. Each bottle is only good for a week due to the vitamin c that degrades when exposed to oxygen. I have been using it morning and night and honestly, I can say that my face feels and looks much more rejuvenated. I now feel it has a slight glow to it and the dullness is gone. It’s also meant to be a de-aging solution, so I will pay more attention to that side and get back to you. There is also a face wash, that I think I’ll add to my routine when I finish out my MURAD.
